Baptism Chair:
This Victorian walnut child's chair was re-upholstered using traditional materials and techniques and was a gift for an infant's baptism in 2006. It was a "stuffed and stitched" seat using animal hair and blind and top stitch - a calico top was then slip-stitched over felt . The linen top cover, bordered with gold crushed velvet and black piping, was embroidered with a picture of the church where the child was baptized as well as his name, the date and other baptism symbols.
